Twin Cities Allianz Employees Partner with Rebuilding Together to Rehabilitate St. Paul Home

Effort is Part of Long-Term Commitment to Maintaining Affordable Housing and Improving Quality of Life in Twin Cities Neighborhoods

St. Paul, Minnesota (September 25, 2006)—Some 40 volunteers from the local headquarters of Allianz worked this past weekend to repair and rehabilitate the home of a grateful St. Paul woman.

Working in coordination with the Twin Cities chapter of Rebuilding Together™, Allianz volunteers worked from dawn to dusk on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23, to spruce up the home of an elderly east side St. Paul homeowner who has lived in her home for 53 years.

Volunteers replaced garage doors and siding and repaired the garage roof, installed grab bars and safety rails, repaired the front steps and painted the interior of the home. This is the second year Allianz employees have joined with Rebuilding Together to rehabilitate a home.

"Good neighborhoods are built one home and one family at a time, and they are preserved in the same manner," said one of the Allianz volunteers. "It is extremely rewarding to help people who need a little bit of extra assistance with maintaining a safe, warm place to live. This program is one way our headquarters employees can contribute to bettering the community where we live and work."

The home rehabilitation effort was coordinated by the Twin Cities chapter of Rebuilding Together, a national organization founded to help improve the quality of life for low-income homeowners, from the elderly and disabled to families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence.

"Rebuilding Together coordinates the resources, tools and supplies needed to rehabilitate homes and improve the quality of life in Twin Cities neighborhoods while companies like Allianz provide the people power to get the job done," says Kathy Greiner, executive director of Rebuilding Together Twin Cities. "We're pleased that Allianz once again has joined with us to help people who otherwise might have to choose between fixing a hole in the roof and buying food or medicine."
