Minnespolis, Minnesota (October 2, 2006)—Several dozen volunteers from Honeywell picked up hammers and paint brushes this past weekend as part of a community-wide partnership that includes Honeywell, the City of Minneapolis' Northside Home Fund, and the Twin Cities chapter of Rebuilding Together™.
The Honeywell volunteers put the finishing touches on a home rehabilitation project that began August 19, when more than 300 volunteers from throughout the Twin Cities community came together to revitalize 10 homes in North Minneapolis.
"Homeownership provides the foundation on which strong, safe communities are built," said Twin Cities Honeywell employee Paul Parrish, who serves as president of the local Rebuilding Together Board of Directors. "Honeywell is committed to working with Rebuilding Together and its community partners here at home and around the country to help assure that everyone has a warm, safe place to live."
The volunteers, tools and supplies needed to undertake the North Minneapolis home rehabilitation effort were coordinated by the Twin Cities chapter of Rebuilding Together, a national organization founded to assure that low-income homeowners, from the elderly and disabled to families with children, live in warmth, safety and independence.
The project was funded through the Northside Home Fund, a program initiated by the City of Minneapolis Community Planning & Economic Development (CPED) Department's Northside Partnership.
"Rebuilding Together marshals the necessary resources, tools and supplies while companies like Honeywell, which is a major sponsor of Rebuilding Together, provide the financial support and people power to get the job done," says Kathy Greiner, executive director of Rebuilding Together Twin Cities. "We're delighted to have local Honeywell employees participate in one of the many projects Honeywell and Rebuilding Together chapters are undertaking this year here in the Twin Cities and around the country."
