A Party of Miniature Proportions

Second Annual Bubba Gump’s Re-Building Block Party to benefit Rebuilding Together Twin Cities

Bloomington, Minn. (December 2007)—For those who loved to play with building blocks as a kid, the chance to reclaim part of childhood and help a worthy cause is now available. Rebuilding Together Twin Cities and the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant & Market at Mall of America are seeking teams of up to eight people to join the fun at the Second Annual Bubba Gump’s Re-Building Block Party, May 4, 2008, in the rotunda at Mall of America.

The registration fee is $500 per team. All money raised at the event goes directly to Rebuilding Together Twin Cities. Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including Forrest’s Favorite (Best of Show), Most Creative, Best Use of Props, Most Team Spirit, and more. Deadline for registration is Friday, April 18, and teams can already request an application form by submitting an email to: blockparty@rebuildingtogether-twincities.org.

Teams can be gathered from groups of co-workers, professional associates, places of worship, classmates, or friends.

Rebuilding Together Twin Cities serves low-income homeowners in the seven-county metro area whose homes are in need of repair or have fallen behind in basic exterior and interior maintenance. The organization organizes volunteers, donated materials and sponsor support to assure that qualified homeowners—the elderly, persons with disabilities and families with children—reside in warmth and safety, and continue to live independently. It also helps rehabilitate the non-profit buildings and centers that bring communities together in low-income neighborhoods. An affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together organization, Rebuilding Together Twin Cities has been preserving and revitalizing homes and communities since 1997. On the local level, the organization has renovated 113 homes, serving 67 elderly persons, 58 persons with disabilities and 50 families with a total of 131 children. In addition, programs have provided opportunities for community involvement and support for an average of 400 volunteers annually. Visit www.rebuildingtogether-twincities.org.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant and Market at Mall of America was chosen by the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) and the Bloomington Advisory Board of Health as the 2005 Food Safety winner in the “Full Service Restaurant” category and for the 2005 Overall Food Safety Award. The restaurant captures the down-home feeling of Paramount Pictures’ classic film, “Forrest Gump,” the restaurant’s inspiration. While Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is known for shrimp and seafood dishes, specialty dishes such as Chipotle Shrimp and Bourbon Street Tilapia showcase the diversity of the menu. There’s something for everyone from non-seafood menu items to a variety of children’s options, as well as original drinks including the Bayou Surprise and Louisiana Lemonade.
