Minneapolis, MN (April 28, 2008)—For Opus Northwest, L.L.C. and the Opus Foundation today announced a $50,000 grant to Rebuilding Together Twin Cities for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Jerry Gamble Boys & Girls Club facility in North Minneapolis.
Rebuilding Together Twin Cities brings together the people, tools and supplies to repair and rehabilitate homes and community assets with the goal of creating safer, more economically viable neighborhoods. Working in partnership with Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, an estimated 100 Twin Cities Opus Northwest employees will volunteer their time and put hammers, saws and paintbrushes to work on May 31 in the latest in a series of regional community improvement projects undertaken around the country by subsidiaries of the Opus Group.
The project will expand the youth club’s entrance to accommodate the safe registration of some 200 Twin Cities boys and girls who attend Boys & Girls Club programs each day. Volunteer workers also will construct new "cubbies" for jackets and backpacks, re-carpet and paint the interior and spruce up exterior landscaping.
"This is an incredible opportunity for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. Opus Northwest is making our dream of initiating a positive change to the Jerry Gamble facility a reality," said Terryl Kirksey, senior branch director of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities. "We are very appreciative of the generous financial support and volunteer hours attached to this project."
"The Opus Foundation and Opus Northwest employees are delighted to partner with Rebuilding Together Twin Cities and give back to our community by contributing the funding, design and construction expertise, and volunteer employee resources to revitalize and improve this valuable community asset," said John Solberg, president and chief executive officer of Opus Northwest, L.L.C. "Projects like this reflect our heritage and mission as a company and engage the passions and talents of our employees in a meaningful way."
